Keep it a wind-up toy

Why free wind-up toys are 19+

Social casino games take on the look, sound and pacing of real gambling, so Windup Attic is meant only for adults over the legal gambling age and is not aimed at anyone under 19. Age gets checked twice: on the banner that welcomes you, and again by a tick you must give to open your account.

What Wimble will never build

• Real-money gambling, either offered or advertised.
• A prize of real-world value, however small.
• A coin shop, or in-app purchases of whatever kind.
• Signposts out to gambling operators or affiliates.
• Countdowns or streaks built to reel you back up the ladder.

A straight word from the workbench

A free toy can be wound to feel generous, and it refills your thimble for nothing. Real-money games do neither. Doing well here says nothing about how you would get on with money at stake.

Signs the mainspring is wound too tight

• Winding on long after the time you meant to stop.
• Going sharp and snappish the moment you stop.
• Spinning as a way to slip out of a sour mood.
• Sleep, work or people are losing hours to it.
• Wishing these toys took real money, and going to find some that do.

Keeping your paw on the brake

• Choose your stopping time before the brass key first turns.
• Leave autoplay unwound.
• Climb down the ladder for a break, and do it often.
• Clear this site’s data and every thimble and tally starts from zero; block the site in your device settings if you want the trapdoor shut for good.
